Geo Club

GEO-CLUB is an association of students of the college to share, discuss, enrich their knowledge, resources, information and matters related to geography through practical activities and approaches. Geo-club is open to all the students of the college to join, participate and organize various events, programmes such as organizing clean environmental awareness programme, in-field geographical study, Tour-trekking and excursion, Geo-Exhibition, Plantation awareness drives, student centric activities- blood donation camps, Health awareness, events on new trends on technology etc. Whoever has interest towards geography, environment, sustainable development and related topics should join and work together with fellow members and peer group to achieve the target plans. Its parent organization is department of Geography, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi.

It was established in the year 2007 since then each year this platform is shared, managed and administered by its new members and officials who get a chance to learn by doing things. Geo-club and all its activities are directed and devoted towards contributing to our society without any profit orientation.

Goal:

Creating awareness and knowledge enrichment through field work about geographic phenomenon not covered in class learning.

Objectives of the Geo Club:

  • To inculcate interest and skills among students on man-environment relationship and other various geographical aspects.
  • The platform encourages and grooms growing writers, trekkers, environmentalists, photographers, event managers, administrators and officials who will serve the society and the country in the near future.
  • To educate the club members on the importance of environment and the need to consider the environmental impact on our life.
  • To develop the next generation of leaders who will have the knowledge, passion and skills to promote and work toward environmental sustainability in their chosen field of profession.

The Committee showcases creativity through digital mediums, whether crafting striking photographs or impactful posters.

Nukkad Natak Committee: (Committee Head: Anu Paul)

This committee is responsible for organizing street plays to raise awareness and fulfill our Geoclub's mission.

Outreach Committee: (Committee Head: Gulshan Bhagat, Kishan Bhardwaj)

It takes charge of managing expeditions for club trekking and external events, leading the way in logistical decisions.

This committee rewrites and structures content to captivate audiences through text, emphasizing its allure over visuals.

Geo Club Major Activities:

  • Organizing life skill activities, such as - Yoga, physical fitness, health and hygiene.
  • Creating awareness of trends in technology.
  • Outreach programmers- blood donation, visit to orphanage or old age homes.
  • Research work on various Geographical issues.
  • Organization of Seminar, Quiz, Project work.
  • Tour, trekking and excursions
  • Photo Exhibition
  • Plantation drive, Nukkad Natak for social awareness.
  • Promoting ecofriendly activities and behavior- such as- bicycle riding, composting etc.
  • Magazine publication- Vasundhara- contains articles, write ups, travel account and puzzles by members of Geoclub.

Geo Club's Annual Magazine:

Geo Club also publishes annual magazine titled "VASUNDHARA". This magazine has been frequently receiving applauses from the students and other departments of the college. The magazine inludes student's paintings, articles, reports and peoms to represent their creativity and talent beyond the syllabus. The magazine also highlights the activities of Geo Club. It has sections written in Hindi as well. It also has some sections for brainstroming which include crossword puzzle and word search. The Magazine also provides stage for arts such as illustration, photography and many others.
