AICUF

All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) is a student movement with students of various backgrounds with an aim to bring together everyone in the name of God. Its motto is “We are born into an unjust society and we are determined not to leave it as we have found it”.

At St. Xavier's College, the association has conducted many events in the previous academic year with an aim to unite the youth of the country for the greater glory of God. Apart from this AICUF has organized a range of inter-college fests. The students have also participated in various other fests hosted by different colleges.

AICUF serves as a platform to our students to develop an awareness and critical analysis of various aspects of our social needs. This will also cultivate a deep and genuine concern for the apprised and marginalized and to commit them to the task of building a humanized society.

History of Jharkhand AICUF

In 1960, Jharkhand AICUF (then South Bihar called CSU – Catholic Student Union) was attached to AICUF, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. In 1970 CSU, Bihar got separated from Kolkata to become independent CSU unit under the guidance of Fr. Philip Ekka SJ the state adviser. In the same year Nirmala College, and in 1971 Chaibasa and Lohardaga unit was started. Later in 1970’s Gumla, Chainpur, Simdega, Khunti and Torpa units were started.

In 1994 Bihar AICUF was divided into North Bihar AICUF and South Bihar AICUF. South Bihar AICUF included Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Chaibasa, Gumla, Chainpur, Simdega, Khunti and Torpa units. After the formation of Jharkhand State in November 2000 all the above units became part of Jharkhand State AICUF.
