Constitution Club

Constitution Club of Department of Political Science, St. Xavier's College, Ranchi aims to promote and create awareness about the Constitution of India among students. The Constitution of India is the backbone of our democracy, and it is essential that students understand its provisions, principles, and values.

The club conducts various activities throughout the year, such as debates, quizzes, workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns, to educate and sensitize students about the Constitution. It also invites experts and scholars to speak on various aspects of the Constitution and its relevance in contemporary India.

The club encourages students to engage in constructive discussions and debates on constitutional issues, enabling them to develop a deeper understanding of the Constitution and its significance. Through its activities, the club aims to empower students to become responsible and informed citizens who are aware of their rights and duties.

To establish an enlightened community that internalises and upholds the ideals of the Constitution of India, To demonstrate unwavering commitment to democracy and the rule of law and contribute meaningfully to the promotion of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity within our institution and the nation at large .

Mission

  • To foster systematic and in depth understanding among students of the constitutional framework , it's underlying philosophy, and it's functioning in India's democratic polity.
  • To institutionalise structured academic and co-curricular activities - such as lectures, seminars,symposia , debates, moot exercises - on constitutional and civic themes and issues of relevance and concern.
  • To promote the observance and practical realisation of fundamental rights, fundamental duties and constitutional values in day-to-day life with particular emphasis on dignity, inclusion, gender equality and respect for diversity.
  • To encourage research-oriented engagement with constitutional issues, public policy and institutional practices, thereby nurturing informed and ethically grounded student leadership committed to public service.
  • To serve as a formal platform for dialogue between students, faculty, and other stakeholders on matters related to civic responsibility, constitutional governance and nation-building.
