The Department of Botany is a well-established Department in the Faculty of Science with a reputation for maintaining high academic standards and a strong research culture. The Department has taken a conscious effort to expand its teaching programme bringing together novel developments in the field with traditional areas of Botany.Teaching in the Department are amply supported by its infrastructure with modern lecture halls, fairly well equipped laboratories, glass house, plant house and herbarium facilities, books and periodicals.Our mission is to strive for an excellent environment for learning and research in plant sciences and produce graduates equipped with skills necessary to fulfill their role in contemporary society.

The Department of Botany provides quality education in the field of Plant Science. The department pursues holistic development of students by providing conventional classroom, innovative pedagogy with Botanical excursion, seminars, workshops, and Lectures by our eminent faculty members. The Departmentof Botany have a committed faculty members which excels in research andteaching.   • The Department offers full time B.Sc. in Botany and M.Sc. in Botany programmes.
  • The four-year undergraduate programme in Botany is divided into eight semesters. It provides a wide range of ideas and concepts about the structure of plants, their places of growth, their classification, the functions of their parts and the terms which are utilized in their denomination and description. B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany degree program involves the study of the structure, development, growth, and metabolism an extensive variety of biological disciplines, including algae, plants, and fungi.
  • The M.Sc. Botany course is for two years and divided into four semesters. It consists of exploring the specialized knowledge of the classification, structure, metabolism, reproduction, biochemistry, evolution and development, biotechnology, molecular and the relationship of the plant kingdom with the environment. It also includes the study of the medicinal and economic properties of plants and its use. It also includes scientific study of about a variety of plant specifies and their features.
